After the decision to postpone the 2021 Oscars ceremony of two months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Academy decided to have an in-person event anyway. Not only will the show take place from the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles as usual, but also in other locations simultaneously on April 25.
“In this unique year that has asked so much of so many, the Academy is determined to present an Oscars like none other, while prioritizing the public health and safety of all those who will participate. To create the in-person show our global audience wants to see, while adapting to the requirements of the pandemic, the ceremony will broadcast live from multiple locations, including the landmark Dolby Theatre. We look forward to sharing more details soon,” a spokesperson for the Academy said in a statement.
Jesse Collins, Stacey Sher and Steven Soderbergh will produce the ceremony, details regarding a host and/or director are not available at this point. What seems certain is that the Oscar nominations will be announced on March 15.
